Chemicals used in cosmetics, plastic wraps and bags, toys etc. are harmful and damages the environment. An American group of Researchers have found out that more male animals are turning feminine due to the availability of phthalates in the environment. The tired environment is resulting in reduction in the quality of sperms and also increasing the rate of infertility. Even slight presence of phthalates can cause damages to the reproductive organs of new born male babies.

Pregnant women, in whose bodies the presence of phthalates has been found are more like to deliver a baby boy with several deformities. The problems could vary from born with smaller penis, abnormal distance between genitals and anus etc. Scientists say that the effects on small boys are quite similar to that of animals.

The chemical industry is facing a strong threat after the discovery of effect of phthalates in the environment.  Some of these phthalates are being used in plastic for more than last 50 years. Although it has been banned at many places, the current usage is bad enough for the environment.
