For the past three years India has been serving as the dumping ground of thousand tones of America’s waste. 890 tonnes of harmful waste has been brought all the way from New Jersey to Tamil Nadu’s  Tuticorin Port. It is a classic case of the way west has treated India as their dumping ground.

Contaminated harmful wastes such as polythene bags, crushed soft drink cans, pesticide containers, used batteries, metal wires and many others have been brought to the port. In October 2007, large amount of toxin waste sent by New York was seized in Kochi port. This led to a huge controversy. There has also been experiences of dismantling toxic filled ships ships like the Blue Lady and Clemencau in India.

Back in 2005 while importing wastepaper India discovered that the cargos not only carried paper but also carcenogenic waster discarded by America. To our shock The Madras High Court stated that this is a huge risk to the lives of people and environment in India.

It is your home and it is your duty to keep the indoor environment of your home free from any pollution. The two aspects, which play an important role, are cleanliness and ventilation. You have to control the temperature and the humidity levels of your home. Now with the assistance of modern technologies, you can control the climate of your room easily.

You can adjust the temperature inside the room simply by clicking on a button. With an automatic thermostat, you can preset the temperature and enjoy the benefits. This even helps to cut down the consumption of electricity too. The atmosphere is often polluted by the gases and fumes that are generated inside the room. You can take the help of an electronic air cleaner to get rid of this mess. Soil dusts, carbon particles, tobacco, mite waste, plant sores, grease, smokes etc. are easily cleaned by this air cleaner. Chemicals used in cosmetics, plastic wraps and bags, toys etc. are harmful and damages the environment. An American group of Researchers have found out that more male animals are turning feminine due to the availability of phthalates in the environment. The tired environment is resulting in reduction in the quality of sperms and also increasing the rate of infertility. Even slight presence of phthalates can cause damages to the reproductive organs of new born male babies.

Pregnant women, in whose bodies the presence of phthalates has been found are more like to deliver a baby boy with several deformities. The problems could vary from born with smaller penis, abnormal distance between genitals and anus etc. Scientists say that the effects on small boys are quite similar to that of animals.

The chemical industry is facing a strong threat after the discovery of effect of phthalates in the environment.  Some of these phthalates are being used in plastic for more than last 50 years. Although it has been banned at many places, the current usage is bad enough for the environment.

Even Christmas Eve creates environmental problems. According to a research, food worth $5 billion is wasted during this occasion around the world. Tons of foods are wasted and they eventually rot.

As per AAP, Christmas waste is 20 times more harmful than the emission for a car. We do need to understand the ill effects of food waste that is resulting in the constant change of climates. A kilo of beef is equivalent to 50,000 liters of water. Leftovers of ham, chicken and turkey should be used afterwards in
sandwiches and other items. Vegetable leftovers can be used in soups too.

Christmas trees should only be put into the organic dust bins after use. The WSN Environmental Solutions is concerned about the problem. This facility has been offered especially to those who don’t have an organic bean. Even people who are old and physically disable can take the assistance of WSN to get rid of
the Christmas tree.

The liability to keep the environment clean lies on us only. The decoration should be properly removed once Christmas is over. Any kind of wastes should be disposed of with due care.

The Sahara Forest Project is one of the latest exploration projects that could turn deserts into thriving patches of vegetation. The design will use sea water and solar power in order to grow food in greenhouses in desert areas. (more…)

Remains of a 120 million year old dinosaur have been discovered in the village of Morello in Eastern Spain. The exciting discovery may be from an unknown species, and scientists are very excited with the find. The bones are all relatively intact, and thus far the vertebrae, ribs and thigh bone have been found from this enormous animal. (more…)
