Remains of a 120 million year old dinosaur have been discovered in the village of Morello in Eastern Spain. The exciting discovery may be from an unknown species, and scientists are very excited with the find. The bones are all relatively intact, and thus far the vertebrae, ribs and thigh bone have been found from this enormous animal.
The dinosaur remains indicate that the lizard stood up to 25 metres tall, and weighed up to 40 tons. The discovered remains date from the early Cretaceous period, approximately 120 million years ago. Scientists believe that it may be related to the Brachiosaurus family of dinosaurs with the long neck and tail. Thus far, most Brachiosaurus remains have been found from the preceding Jurassic period. “Those from the early Cretaceous period are much less common, and one of this size is vary rare, so we are able to advance our knowledge of the group in this period,” Mr Gasulla, one of the lead diggers said.
